This makes me sad. Proto-Punk and Riot Grrrl are two older genres of music. The Stooges and Sex Pistols are both Proto-Punk. I’m guessing you found my blog because you’re a fan of Lou Taylor Pucci. So, there’s a big chance you idolize his character in that Green Day video. Well, without Proto-Punk to inspire bands like Green Day, there would be no American Idiot, or *gasps* Jesus of Suburbia. Riot Grrrl bands are mostly 90’s and consist of some of the baddest bitches in music. Look up L7 or Babes in Toyland. Thanks for asking, though. More people in this generation need to hear these genres.

p.s. I’m not very creative, and I listen to a lot of Proto-Punk and Riot Grrrl…so that’s the best I could come up with for a tumblr name.

edit: Don’t think I was dissing Green Day, or their fans. I’M a fan. What’s disappointing is that so many modern punk fans fail to give Proto Punk bands of the past the recognition they deserve. It’s great music, and influenced more great music. This wasn’t a hate piece, so please don’t interpret what I wrote in that way. Thank you.
